From My Heart (Issue 58)

Dear Readers,

Sitting here in the office, where most of my friends are, it’s hard to imagine what my life would be without them. For years, they have been a part of me. We have shared stories – our happiness, our hurts, even crazy ideas. They help keep me in good spirits when I feel low. They pray for me when I have problems. They help me complete a task when I’m under time-pressure, and I do the same for them.

True friends are hard to find. Some can give you joy as well as heartaches. The Bible has wise reminders on how we choose our company. Proverbs 22:24-25 says, “Don’t befriend angry people, or associate with hot-tempered people, or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul.”

Still, my favorite verse is Proverbs 13:20, “Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.”

And lastly, I Corinthians 15:33 warns us, “Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”

In this quarter’s issue, our theme is friendship. I believe God designed us to have friends, especially friends who encourage and pray with and for each other.

God bless you.

Evelyn
